Within the last 5 years, Oklahoma City has been exploring many new possibilities and has expanded our city. Everything from the OKC Thunder, Skydance Bridge, Chesapeake Arena, to one of my favorites the new Outlet Mall.

Oklahoma City-area will soon have access to a variety of adventurous activities at the new young pavilion on the Oklahoma River at the Boathouse District. The SandRidge Energy Young Pavilion will encourage outdoor activities for the youth, but will appeal to people of all ages. Many attractions such as Sky Trail course, a zip line across the Oklahoma River, an outdoor climbing wall, and indoor surf park.

The project is guessed to cost between $5 million and $7 million. This week they announced that they will add the indoor surf park to the already planned 16,000-square-feet plan.

Sky Trail and Zip Line

The Sky Trail will be a complex system of ropes that you can work your way through. If that doesn’t get your adrenaline pumping, try the zip line that will send you sailing over 700 feet across the river and back several stories in the air.

Indoor Surf Park

Who knew that you could be riding the waves right here in Oklahoma? The newest addition to the project is an indoor surf park. This unique feature will be for all ages. Similar parks exist in some of the most unique venues like the U.S., Eurpoe and Asia.

Celebrity designer and Emmy Award winner as the co-host of ‘Clean House’ on the Style Network will be revealing how to declutter your space and transform it into a master piece. Todd Davis from HGTV’s “Room Crashers” will teach attendees how to create dynamic spaces into a timeless  living space both indoor and out.  Bruntez and Davis will be appearing Friday and Saturday.

When children are diagnosed with cancer, they often undergo extensive treatments, which require a lot of rest afterward in order for them to recover.  That is why the Toby Keith Foundation is planning to build a comfortable place for these children and their families to stay while they go through the treatment process.

According to Juliet Nees-Bright, Director of the Toby Keith Foundation, the OK Kids Korral, located at NE 8 and Laird, will serve as a home away from home for children with cancer, and their families, who are undergoing treatment at The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center, the Peggy and Charles Stephenson Cancer Center, or other cancer treatment facilities in the area.

The OK Kids Korral will include twelve overnight suites that can host up to five people each. There will also be four other family rooms ideal for day stays and a library and play area to provide entertainment.  Families can come in the morning and stay in their rooms or enjoy the facilities while they wait for their afternoon treatment. Not only can they relax inside, but the OK Kids Korral is strategically located within the downtown area for convenience.

The OK Kids Korral will begin construction in the sprint, and it is estimated to be completed by late 2013. Plans for construction are already approved by the Oklahoma City Urban Renewal Authority.
